I then started designing the building background.

This background looks ok, however I would say it is the weakest of all my backgrounds I was unsure of how to add more detail to 2D styled buildings without using gradients or making the buildings 3D.

The final background I did was the image of carrots in a box like he was in a supermarket.
I think this background is very different and quirky and I really like the different heights of the carrots and there are some thick chunky carrots and some thin smaller ones.

I then did 31 separate pages of the fox to animate him walking in quite a funky/quirky way.
I then designed the four backgrounds using illustrator.

I think this was the most effective and worked the best of the backgrounds. I really like the grass at different lengths and the simple blue sky which makes all the viewers attention drawn to the grass and flowers instead which is the main focus of the background.

The second background I did was the pottery wall which I also think worked well however given more time I would of liked to create a floral background on the wallpaper in the back of the image and added more different types of pottery.

I then created my own few drawings of different style and came up with my final design of what the fox would look like.

As I am using simple backgrounds I want the fox to be quite simple and have a stylized look rather than look realistic. Out  of these drawings I then selected the best features and create my final character.
I like the bold lines and the simple use of the colours orange and black with no shading just block colours. I think the arms and legs look quite funny and with them being that shape too means it's easier to animate and I won't make mistakes getting angles of legs wrong or a knee bending the wrong way by accident.

I decided to change my character from a bear or panda to be a fox now as I think the fox would be more likely to walk through a city past buildings or get into buildings like a pottery factory where it shouldn't be. I think this makes more sense and looks a bit more though out.
I began to look at different fox illustrations to see what sort of illustration style to use.

I then began experimenting using card in block shapes to see what the backgrounds might look like.

I found that this looked really good and that an idea to use block bright colours would look really effective. However this was time consuming and didn't looked polished enough so I decided that it would be quicker, more detailed and easier to use illustrator to create these background images instead.

I then did a background of the bear to look like he was walking through a pottery factory as I thought that was quite a quirky background idea.

I then decided to have a background of the bear walking through a supermarket to have him walk past the vegetable isle along side some carrots, again I thought this was quite a quirky idea and would like to illustrate the carrots would look good too.

Lastly I decided to have the final background of the bear in 'Paradise' so I wanted to do a background of a wildflower open area with overgrown grass to show the bear belongs in the wild as opposed to a to anywhere else which is why I will start the animation off with the bear walking in front of buildings.

I decided not to use the walk cycle from the side view as I thought from research that
the walk cycle view looking/walking towards the screen looked a lot better and would suit the style of
my animation better.

First I began designing backgrounds for my animation I wanted to have 4 different backgrounds of different places, first one to be of buildings in the background.

I want to keep the backgrounds quote plain and simple, so just use of block colours no gradients or shadows I think this will give a good effect.
